What is Web Design?
Web Design is the creation of the website pages, the look of those pages (front end design), and the connections between those pages giving the overall architecture of the site. Our favorite analogy for site design relates it to the building of a house (you may have seen this before if this isn't the first page you've read). The blue prints and floor plan of a house are like the site architecture and linkages of a web site, meant to create a "living space" that has a place for everything you need and room to grow. The front end design of the site is like the overall look of a house externally and internally giving the house "curb appeal". Design also includes the actual coding of the pages, like laying the foundation and building a frame and roof on top of it. What might be an easier question to answer would be "What does design not include?". If a house was built only as far as the design goes, it would lack plumbing, electricity, security, and other conveniences that make it more than just a shelter. For those things, look to site development
Site Architecture
The architecture of a website is one of the first things that must always be done before any other work on the site can progress. FoolAlooF follows a set of simple but crucial rules for architecture that makes the site easy for visitors to navigate as well as making the site appealing to search engines. With a good architecture, visitors to your site will find what they need time and again, reducing support costs for the site and the overall business.
Front End Design
How a site looks is considered by may people to be as important as the way the site "works". Because of this FoolAlooF concentrates heavily on site design and its appeal to the target audience of the site. We also take into consideration load times (how fast the site comes up in a browser), browser compatibility (if it comes up at all in a browser), and handicapped accessibility. Take a look at our site gallery to see some example of our work.
Search Engine Optimization
The biggest problem with the world wide web today is that it contains too much information and is too poorly organized. The chances of a person stumbling on to a website that they want without help is insignificant. Search engines are how people find things on the web and if a site isn't palatable to a search engine then the chances of that site ever being used are too small to count so FoolAlooF considers search engine optimization to be a key feature of the sites we create, not an add on.
